Graphic Literature
If you haven’t ever noticed, I’m quite the comic fan, and I’m extremely happy to say that my wonderful friends have given me a shit load of reading to do as they all bought me graphic novels for Christmas.
Now, Idk your stances on this but, I most definitely consider comics a feasible form of literature with its own canon(s). I take a lot of its stories somewhat seriously when I read them; lol, yesterday I was reading one of my books (mags’ gift specifically) and I noticed some interesting literary devices. Right now, I’m reading my friend Gilbert’s gift, which is one of the BEST novels ever written, forget graphic novel, or comic; It honestly transcends it’s medium. As I’m reading it, I am actually quite awestruck by its brilliance. The Watchmen is brilliant and a must read, and I was a fool for not bothering to put forth the effort to go out and read it.
So the point of my blurb, you don’t have to read em’ but the stigma surrounding comics need to kinda go away if they exist because, comics now-a-days are serious. LOL they have been for years. Watchmen was published in the 80’s and it talks about everything under the sun, from rape, to murder, to politics; and it’s definitely heavy reading. Superheroes and comics give us that escapism that we desperately in need our darkest and most stressful times but, are also the product of our wildest dreams and aspirations. And with that said villains and the situations these heroes face can even showcase our deepest fears, anxieties and problems. They take our childhood dreams and nightmares, and they are put in adult context while still retaining that childhood nostalgia.
As an (extremely) amateur writer, I can appreciate a good, well written story. Things like when people who have no clue what they’re talking about, begin critiquing things they know nothing about make me mad. Like OMG, I read this one time this guy say, “OMG MUSIC IS MY LIFE, I JUST LOVE MUSIC.” First off, wtf, since when? Since you’ve won a certain award back in high school, and you started sucking the penis of a guy who really actually knows what he’s talking about. It’s okay to have your own opinions but, you don’t even play anything, I doubt you can write a song, you definitely can’t make a beat and keep rhythm, sooo please don’t act like you know your shit. Besides, you only listen to one genre of music. You have much to learn, so keep your arrogant mouth shut. I swear you were and kinda still are, A NOBODY.
LOL sorry about that. But I don’t think anyone has the right to talk negatively about anything until they’ve given it a decent chance, and if it’s not your thing, then you DEFINITELY have no right judging ‘cause your opinion is already subjective. I just don’t really like it if people talk shit, but have nothing to back up their shit. Moral of the story: know your stuff, know you role or acknowledge your authority or lack of, and if you don’t know or don’t have any authority, shut your mouth.
:D
