but it seems he actually has gained thousands of haters for every one fan
oh well ill just sit there awkwardly as everyone screams at me that he is a sick misogynistic devil worshipping rapist
cause yeah really i cant defend the fact that he uses so many rape references and a lot of sick shit so…
I’m gonna side with you on this one Jess but, I’ll add to what you’re saying here. What OFWGKTA, and Tyler is saying, is NO DIFFERENT from what has been said in hip-hop for years. In fact, Tyler makes it more relate-able by bringing the subject matter to the suburbs and taking it out of the ghetto/projects. For years hip-hop/rap has talked about violence, gang-banging, and the abuse of women, but in a different setting. For some reason, its okay for Wu-tang, Jadakiss, Dr. Dre, NWA, and other gangster rappers to talk about murdering people but, all of a sudden a kid who skate boards talks about it and everyone’s shitting their pants. Every rapper talks about fucking bitches and what not, and Tyler talks about real shit like rape, stalking, and obsession, ALL OF WHICH ARE REAL LIFE ISSUES, and everyone hates him. Murder, rape, violence and drugs are not exclusive to the ghetto, they affect us too and Tyler sheds light on that, and has fun with it at the same time. On top of that it seems a lot of people forget that music in general isn’t simply self depicting or reflective of the artist but, it is also used as a form of storytelling. Is it possible that Tyler the creator is talking about these things from a storytelling point of view, and is using himself as a character in the story he’s trying to convey? I don’t think the Eagles actually ever stayed at the Hotel California, and forgive my rudeness but, I doubt Stevie Wonder ever had a Part-Time Lover. The tragedy of this is our society is sooo used to simplistic music that we can listen to, jam out to, and dance to that we don’t stop to think a little, or analyse the sound waves passing through our ears. Everything is taken at face value, and books are being judged by their covers and unfortunately Tyler presents us with music that is quite nasty at facevalue
